FAQ
What is Psonar?
Psonar is a digital jukebox in the cloud, letting people play the music they choose paying per track played. Credit is purchased in amounts from as little as $1 / 50p / 50€c and paid for via mobile phone or debit / credit card.
Plays can also be gifted to other people where the recipient can play the gifted music with one click in any HTML5 enabled browser.
How does it work?
Unlike other streaming music services, Psonar is pay as you go. You purchase credits (minimum $1 / £0.50 / 1€ per transaction) and use them to play tracks. Use them whenever you like - they never expire.
How much does it cost?
Psonar Pay-Per-Play costs 1p / 1c / 1€c for each play. We don’t make you listen to irritating ads or buy a subscription. You only pay for what you listen to and nothing more. Sign up and we'll give you up to 70 tracks for free to get you started!
How do I pay?
Pay through your mobile phone bill (contract or pre-pay) with a few clicks. You can also pay by debit / credit card or PayPal.
Does it work on my phone / tablet / computer?
Our HTML5 web app works across all platforms. We've also got a native iOS app and our Android app will be available winter 2012.
What music have you got?
Psonar has bucketloads of cutting-edge independent music across all genres. We're working on the more commercial stuff!
Does the artist get paid?
Every time a track is played the rightsholder gets a fixed share of your 1p / 1c / 1€c. We have a standard tariff sheet which is publically available. Please contact us if you'd like more information.
How many plays do I get for say, £10?
As you only pay for what you listen to, £10 spent on Psonar allows you to listen to 1,000 tracks and the credit never expires. If you spend £10 a month on a subscription service but listen to less than 1,000 tracks each month, then Psonar is better value for you. We don't charge you for what you don't use. Simple.
Are there any adverts?
No. Psonar is an ad-free zone.

Is buying credit online safe?
Yes. Bango, Psonar's mobile payments partner is Payforit, PhonepayPlus and MMA certified and all transactions are carried out on SSL conections certified by VeriSign.
How do I add credit to my Psonar iPhone app?
You can't add credit directly using the iPhone app. Apple's rules, not ours. Instead, you must login to the Psonar website, visit your profile page and click the 'Add credit' button.
Do I have to pay for data-transfer on mobile?
You need to check the data allowance in your mobile contract. If you're within the limits of your bundle, you won't pay. Data charges are very expensive out of bundle so you need to be careful not to exeed your allowance. Be extra careful when roaming. Streaming over wifi is free.
Can I gift music to my friends?
You can send someone a gift by pre-paying for them to listen to a track, album or whole playlist. Gifts can be sent via Facebook, SMS or email. They just click on the link and the music plays immediately - no need to sign up or log in.
How does a gift differ from a share?
Gifts are pre-paid by the sender so the recipient can listen for free. Sharing simply sends the link to the user - they can listen to previews but have to pay to listen to full tracks.
How do I gift and share music?
Click the blue gift / share button. You can choose to send them an email, post to Facebook or by cutting and pasting the url generated into a message or tweet. If you're using the iPhone app, you can also share via SMS.
